Rep. of the Moment

Jeffrey Griffin
For his extensive support of the Student Group Activities Committee in helping organize the logistics of President's Orientation, volunteering to be the SGAC manager of the Umrath student group center, and being an effective and central member of the committee. Jeff has emerged not only as a leader in SGAC but also in the Treasury of Student Union as well. Thank you, Jeff, for all your hard work and dedication to SU.

The mission of Student Union is to create a vibrant campus community by: advocating for the needs and interests of undergraduate students, developing and implementing both innovative and traditional programs, and allocating the student activity fee to unique and engaging activities, programs, and initiatives.

It is the vision of Student Union to responsibly serve and empower every undergraduate student to be a force for change and improvement while fostering and preserving tradition at Washington University in St. Louis.

New Group Application

Dear Prospective SU Student Group,

We appreciate your interest in establishing a new student group on campus. For your benefit, please read the following important information!

One of the primary responsibilities of the Student Group Activities Committee (SGAC) is to approve new SU Student Groups and recommend a financial category designation. SGAC would love to help you through the application process and we do not want this process to be stressful.

If you have any questions regarding your application, please contact SGAC at sgac@su.wustl.edu. Also, if you would like to schedule a brief meeting with the SGAC Chairs before your student group interview to ask any questions you may have, please send us an email at sgac@su.wustl.edu and we would be happy to set up an appointment. Please take advantage of our offer to help if you are ever stressed, lost or simply want more information.

Further, the Office of Student Activities would be willing to help your group. Their office is located next to the SU office in the Women’s building. You may also contact Julie Thornton from OSA with any questions you may have at Julie.thornton@wustl.edu

Finally, the Student Group Activities Committee encourages prospective student groups to apply after having a presence on campus for almost or more than a semester. We like to see that your group has had some events and group meetings prior to applying. It is less likely, that a brand new group will be approved for Student Union recognition, regardless of the group’s financial category request.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to drop us an email.

Good Luck!

Sincerely,

William Osberghaus and Neha Tibrewala, Chairs
The Student Group Activities Committee
